Houston A+ Challenge is an independent nonprofit that has supported local public school improvement and education leadership development since 1997.

Our mission is to be a catalyst for change and a model for innovation in education in the Houston area and beyond, to ensure that every student is prepared for post-secondary success.

Who We Serve

In the 2014-15 school year, Houston A+ Challenge will serve upwards of 2,000 educators and community members through our various initiatives, supporting schools in 20 school districts in and around Houston.

Our Impact

Since our founding, Houston A+ Challenge has served as the region's advocate for public school transformation, providing a catalyst for innovations, an engine for systemic change, and a galvanizing force for public, private, and corporate investment in public schools.

Each year, more than 90 percent of our budget goes directly to helping teachers, principals and districts improve school leadership, teaching and learning for thousands of Houston-area students.

How We Work

Houston A+ Challenge works ensure that all students in Greater Houston have access to schools that prepare them for post-secondary success through diverse, linked initiatives that strengthen, innovate, and connect schools and educators.

Through the Challenge NetworkA+ provides teachers and school leaders in districts across Greater Houston with the training, support and networks they need to drive positive change for all students.
 
A+ Unlimited Potential – Houston’s first mobile middle school – demonstrates a new model for schooling, leveraging technology, expert teachers, and community resources to personalize learning and maximize success for students; the initiative seeks to prove what's effective and what's scalable so more schools & students can benefit.
 
Our Speaker Series brings the best ideas in education to Houston's educators and thought leaders through a series of free, public events.
 
Through Gulf Coast PASS, A+ helps high schools and community colleges collaborate to ensure more students complete post-secondary study.
