Houston A+ Challenge is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that has supported public school improvement in the Houston area since 1997.
Our mission is to serve as a catalyst for change in the public schools that educate nine of every ten children in our region, teaming with principals and teachers in targeted schools to ensure that every student is prepared for post-secondary success.

Houston A+ Challenge is committed to ensuring that all public school students, no matter what their background, graduate high school prepared to achieve their maximum potential for success in college, career and civic life.
These students are educated in classrooms throughout Houston by thousands of A+ teachers and school leaders, each provided with the training and tools necessary to ensure that these students achieve at the highest levels.
Students, teachers, and school leaders are supported by families that provide encouragement, and community leaders and benefactors who provide expertise and resources to make an excellent education possible for all students.

Our Definition of Post-Secondary Success
Houston A+ Challenge believes that the goal of K-12 education is to ensure that students graduate high school with the skills needed to be successful in work, higher education, and family and community life in the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century.
Research finds that six key indicators can predict whether a student will achieve post-secondary success:
- Advanced coursework
- SAT/ACT performance
- College and career readiness
- Family and community support
