Horace Mann News
Horace Mann Junior School
Goose Creek CISD
814 students, Grades 6-8
Principal: Michael Coopersmith
A+ Coach: Torrey Conerly
This Baytown campus is located in an area that is heavily industrial, yet maintains a small town ambiance. It is only one of two schools in Goose Creek CISD to receive Title I funds for its large population of students from low-income families.
High aspirations are clearly part of the school’s fabric, as more than half of the students now enrolled in the district’s new Impact Early College (a collaboration with Lee College) came from Horace Mann.
Principal Michael Coopersmith worked with A+ on the Goose Creek CISD planning committee for the Preparing to Dream initiative, which is helping to promote a college-going culture for all students, especially low-income and first-generation college-goers.
